Before You Begin
You’ll need:
1 x Dell Latitude E5440
1 x Dell 65W AC Adapter with 6-foot cord
1 x 16GB USB Flash Drive (Microsoft Windows)
1 x 16GB USB Flash Drive (Apple macOS)
1 x 16GB USB Flash Drive (Canonical Ubuntu)
1 x 8GB USB Flash Drive (Bootloader and Post Installation)
1 x DVD disc (Canonical Ubuntu Live CD Installer)
1 x USB WiFi Adapter
1 x Bluetooth Adapter
1 x Wireless or Wired Keyboard
1 x Wireless or Wired Mouse
1 x Smartphone or Tablet with Internet or Second PC with Internet
1 x HDD/SDD SATA Drive and SATA to USB Enclosure
1 x Dell Latitude E5440

1 x 8GB USB Flash Drive (Bootloader and Post Installation)
1 x DVD disc (Canonical Ubuntu Live CD Installer)

1 x HDD/SDD SATA Drive and SATA to USB Enclosure
Step 1
Place your HDD/SSD drive into a SATA to USB Enclosure.
Step 2
Connect to an iMac/MacBook and fully install a macOS version that both devices can support.
Step 3
Restart to the internal drive of the iMac/MacBook.
Step 4
Download the Bootloader and place it in the (ESP) EFI System Partition.
Step 5
Format the 1 x 8GB USB stick and copy the Bootloader to the ESP.
Step 6
Download any Utility Software needed for post-installation to the 1 x 8GB USB stick.
Step 7
Eject the HDD/SSD drive and add it to the Dell Latitude E5440 after it is configured.
Step 8
Keep the 1 x 8GB USB stick for emergencies to boot the system.
