It is very easy for me to reset the Password for an account in Windows as I have a password reset CD that I just drop into the optical drive and then boot it or MedicatUSB for devices without one. After digging around macOS, I discovered that it can be done on macOS just as long as a firmware password isn’t set and you can see a demonstration below.
00:00 – macOS Login
00:15 – Restart macOS to Recovery
01:00 – Accessing Recovery partition.
04:10 – Recovery partition
04:25 – Terminal
04:40 – Type in ‘resetpassword’ and press enter/return.
05:35 – Restart macOS to macOS Login
Type in 'resetpassword' and press enter/return.
